The Lawyers’ Society is a non-profit organisation of lawyers qualified to practise law in Sierra Leone, as well as Sierra Leoneans licensed to practice law in other jurisdictions.
Its overarching objective is to uphold the rule of law, promote justice, advocate for good governance, support professional development within the legal community, and foster relationships and collaboration with other organisations that share similar goals.
I have received an extraordinarily weighty mandate from my seniors, peers and other colleagues to lead an interim team of the LAWYERS’ SOCIETY which was launched in the presence of hundreds of lawyers. I’m humbled by the confidence reposed in me and every member of the interim team. We are aware of the enormity of this task and so we once again pledge our commitment to making the LAWYERS’ SOCIETY a strong pillar of the legal profession, a foremost watchdog of our democracy and a crucial advocate and defender of the rule of law and the Constitution of Sierra Leone"
Augustine Sorie-Sengbeh Marrah
Interim President

The Lawyers' Society was established in response to the collective aspirations of legal professionals, both within and outside Sierra Leone, who recognize the vital role lawyers play in defending democracy and advancing good governance. It serves as a platform to actively contribute to these important issues.
To be the leading advocate for justice, the rule of law, and professional integrity in Sierra Leone, fostering a vibrant legal community dedicated to upholding democratic principles, protecting human rights and advancing legal excellence for the benefit of society.
